FASHION WEEK 1943

AS I sit on the edge of my seat waiting for  fashion WEEK NEW YORK CITY 2013 …I was wondering how it all began ?

 

 

The first FASHION WEEK N.Y.C was in the year 1943. It was during the time of World War II.
With the war people were unable to travel from the USA to Paris for all the fashion shows.

Step-in Fashion Publisher Eleanor Lambert just one of many hats, she organized what was call at that time“press week”

which showcasing our American Designer. Beside the fashion show  which look like lunch with the Lady's from the upper east side and the well-to-do,cocktails anyone? The buyer at that time were only able to visit the designer showroom and did not attended the  "Catwalk"

 At that time it was all about Paris Fashion and magazine VOGUE was all about the latest style by the French but after"press week"you could now turn the pages of VOGUE to check out 'GREAT AMERICAN DESIGNER" it was a great start for American design but a hard one...but then in 1973 it was all about U.S.A with names like Halston,Oscar De La Renta and Anne Klein just to name a few it was "Game On"

So with that FASHION WEEK N.Y.C was born.

NOW!!!!!!!!!!

In 2009 with much needed help in the fashion industry. MERCEDES-BENZ step in as the officially sponsor. It’s was perfect in the hard Economic Times.

It help open up a new world for all Designer and with social med,live stream,facebook,tweeter and fashion blogger the passion for fashion is in full bloom,what more can I say!!!
